Bulling and or Harassment

Bullying is repeated negative behavior toward a less powerful person.

  • Hitting, name-calling, shunning, and shaming are all forms of bullying. Spreading rumors, gossiping and making threats online are also forms of bullying.
    State law prohibits harassment, intimidation, and bullying in our schools.
    Schools are required to take action if students report they are being bullied.
    Beginning in August 2011, each school district will be required to adopt model an anti-bullying policy and procedure. .
  • SB 5288 (2007)
    Requires the state school directors association and the superintendent of public instruction to convene an advisory committee to develop a model policy prohibiting acts of harassment
    Intimidation or bullying that are conducted via electronic means by a student while on school grounds during the school day. It also requires the state school directors association and the advisory committee to develop sample educational
  • Model Policies and Procedures
    The 2010 Legislature passed Substitute House Bill 2801, which called for OSPI to create a new model policy and procedure on harassment, intimidation and bullying. OSPI submitted the following policy and procedure to the Legislature on December 1, 2010.
