Disabilities Resource Fair


For individuals with developmental disabilities, family members, and others.

 Sponsored by The Division of Developmental Disabilities Region V-Kitsap, Kitsap County Developmental Disabilities, The Kitsap County Parent Coalition, the Arc of Kitsap and Jefferson Counties, and Kitsap County Early Intervention Services

* At 10 a.m.: Linda Rolfe, Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities, will provide budget information and the potential impact to programs and services.

Followed by Dozens of agencies, programs and support groups will have tables set up for information gathering:

Early intervention,

Parks and Recreation,

Community services,

Residential agencies,

Employment vendors,

Governmental support,

Respite,

Support Groups,

Advocacy,

Transportation and more!

The 2010 Legislative Session begins  January 11, 2010.

The Governor in her first budget proposed cuts in Medicaid Personal Care and Individual and Family Support, and suspended funding for Adult dental, adult hearing, adult vision and podiatry services and Physical/Occupational/Speech therapy.

 In addition she proposed eliminating the Basic Health Plan.

At the same time she made a commitment to increase community placements for people moving to the community from RHCs.

Early this week, she has propose a second budget buying back some of the program cuts with proposed revenue from taxes, fees, and efficiencies in state government.

Kitsap County Parent Coalition will be posting this information on our website as well as other updates during the session.
